Kirkwood and Spiro are two different people. Kirkwood is Mike Kirkwood. A 25+ year foodservice marketing guy who has held positions at some of the biggest foodservice advertising agencies and worked with some of the biggest and smallest foodservice manufacturers in the business. So, Mike is the marketing side of the equation. Mike started the business in 2005 leaving a Managing Director position at Ogilvy Food B2B.
Spiro is Sandra Spiro. In 2006, Mike asked Sandra to join. Mike needed the sales side of the equation to be more relevant to clients. Think about it. Mike could live in his marketing world and think an idea was great. But if sales never embraced the idea, then how “great” was it? Sandra’s expertise was needed.
Sandra, also a 25+ year foodservice expert, held various sales positions with distributors and foodservice manufacturers - the last 6 years being with The Dannon Company as Director of Foodservice Sales.
When we started this business in 2005, the world did not need another foodservice advertising agency. We believed, and still do, that a traditional advertising agency was a terrible solution for a foodservice or hospitality manufacturer. Too many layers and too many departments that were being paid for that were never used properly. When we started KS, our model was different and is still very different. Start with foodservice sales and marketing expertise and then build a team to support strategic projects.
The Account Managers work with the client to best understand their sales strategy, go-to-market structure, and product focus to develop specific tactics to deliver sales objectives. Only execute the tactics that DRIVE sales opportunities. Everything we do is about generating a sales opportunity. That’s Business Activation.
